I was really disappointed, that’s it, that’s the whole point of this blog. Don’t get me wrong, UNIQLO got some good items but the cheap or less expensive shirts they have is really a disappointment. I have this white buttondown shirt that I had for years now and so I’ve decided to get a new white button down shirt, I was aiming for the oxford but since I’m kinda broke, I settled for the “broadcloth” casual shirt they had, to be honest, I wasn’t able to tell the difference between the other less expensive shirt they had, although I can distinguished the oxford shirt they still has this broadcloth shirt in different prices. They have prices ranging from 990 Php to 590 Php, they also have this 1490 Php broadcloth shirt which for someone who is broke will have to think twice in buying a shirt costing that much. So long story short, I ended up buying this white buttondown collar long sleeve casual shirt for 590 Php. It fit well as it is slim fit. It got wrinkly easily as it is cotton but for a casual affair, it’s not a problem. It also has this dress shirt length for a shirt because it’s really long and not tucking it in will make you look unkept.
Since I love wearing white as it look down right cool, like, “yes, I look good but I don’t look like I’m trying too much” feel… so, now, I didn’t realize I was wearing it often than my other shirts. So I’ve decided to buy a new shirt with the same price and buttondown collar of course, as this type of collar is my favorite. Now I have a new buttondown shirt but this time is a gingham pattern.
It instantly became my favorite but now after wearing it and washing it for like ten times now, the shirt isn’t fitting anymore, it’s too wide now, it doesn’t have that same fit anymore, like it hugs my body… now I feel like it has this excess fabric from the side of the torso, I can barely tucked it in anymore as it look really ridiculous, imagine tucking it in and having those excess fabric…
Lesson learned as they say, in retrospect I should have just buy the Oxford shirt. I’m also disappointed at UNIQLO now, because all my other shirts that i bought from FnH 5 years ago is still in good condition, as it could have been because of the fabric too but still, my point is, UNIQLO could have made the fabric much better by adding some polyester on their broadcloth, because one of the major confusion I had was checking the fabric, the 590 Php broadcloth has 100 percent cotton as well as the 990 Php broadcloth and if you touch the fabric, they are basically the same, so naturally, people will aim for the cheaper one.
So basically, you could buy a cheap casual shirt at UNIQLO but don’t think it will last for more than 10 washes. Aim for the much pricey shirt as this could last more. I’m not saying that I don’t recommend UNIQLO because I had this really nice jacket I bought from UNIQLO and it’s over a year now and it still fit well, it’s a fleece jacket so it’s kinda pricey but worth it. It has a beautiful pattern on it but it’s for a different blog. Have a nice day.
